About this event

Presented by Value Culture, 501c3 in collaboration with celebrated Bay Area Artist Reniel Del Rosario will showcase exclusive new works and an immersive experience to promote AAPI love and celebrate AAPI Heritage Month at Yank Sing, San Francisco.

AAPI Love A La Carte will take place at Yank Sing, in the Rincon Center (101 Spear, SF) on the afternoon of May 20th, 2023 from 4pm-7pm. It is a free and all ages event, inclusive to all backgrounds. New works by Reniel will be showcased and offered through a dim sum experience.

We are excited and grateful at the opportunity to be included in the official APA Heritage Month calendar of events and programs with support from the APA Heritage Foundation, the Robert Joseph Louie Memorial Foundation and our Value Culture supporters. Thank you to Yank Sing for hosting. Yank Sing is celebrating 65 years serving it’s dim sum delicacies.

Reniel Del Rosario (b. Iba, Philippines) is an artist that primarily uses ceramics, quantity, and satire to discuss themes of commodification and value—historical, cultural, and monetary. His projects range from interactive mimicries of consumer establishments, reimaginings of artifacts, and imperfect copies of already-existing objects. This collaboration with Yank Sing uses dim sum as the model for the AAPI Love A La Carte experience with Value Culture.

Along with the art by Reniel, the event features a debut dance performance from dance collective Dancing Story made up of local Bay Area AAPI high school all stars instructed by Derek Sakakura, AAPI history in the neighborhood with the San Francisco Chinese Historical Society, SnapFiesta activation, cookies from Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company and more.

Following the event, take part in the Dueling Karaoke after party, a joint celebration of AAPI & Jewish Heritage Month at the East Cut Crossing, one block away at 200 Folsom St. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 7pm-9pm, more info here.
